Line

Line is the most basic element of design. We make marks, which appear as lines, to communicate in languages both verbal and visual. In the visual language, line is perhaps the most expressive of the elements, and indeed embodies some, if not all, simply by existing.
Students in Art 1 start out using line to expressive an array of emotions and feelings which they have experienced recently. They are encouraged to fully take advantage of their pencils, erasers, and blending stumps, to explore the multiple ways in which lines can be created. Remember, a line happens where two shapes meet.
The following are examples of non-objective representations of various feelings or emotions.
